Statesman food writer, Mike Sutter, dishes about the opening of Austin Brevita's second location, near the Genie Car Wash on South Lamar. His recommendation? Try the Americano. laura
Tiffany Youngren (above) laughs about the cliche of a couple from Washington state coming to Texas and opening a coffee stand. But that’s what she and her husband, Duane, did shortly after moving to Oak Hill a year ago.
Maggie's Austin is always one of the first to bring up-to-the-moment food news to Austin's hard core epicureans. Check out her post about this downtown newcomer, and purveyor of artisan sausage, Frank. laura
Frank again! Yup twice in so many weeks, as I first wrote about here. I made a repeat visit after winning a gift certificate from Tastytouring, thanks Jodi! Not to mention, the food is damn good. Frank serves artisan sausage, read: classy, in a casual setting in Austin’s warehouse district. Each day there will be two hot dog specials in addition to the regular menu.
Always on top of the most interesting food trends in Texas' capital city, Tasty Touring brings us her take on Austin's first sushi trailer. Freshness, flavor, and price all figure into her thumbs up review. laura
I'm a sucker for new food trailers and after hearing about Sushi-A-Go-Go on Twitter last week, I had to check it out. I drove from my office up to Manor Road where this new trailer was parked after being enticed by their daily Twitter special of $1 edamame and fresh tuna and yellowtail roll for $5.50.
There are many reasons to visit Thai Cooking with Jam, but one of our favorites is to see what Jam is cooking up at Thai Fresh, her uber-inviting, always-delicious restaurant in South Austin. laura
The heat is brutal but you gotta give it to the fruits when it comes to summer. My ice cream machine has been working harder than anything else in the store. We have been making ice cream all day everyday. The most popular has been all the dairy free coconut ice cream flavors that I made.
Find out how Chan - the former executive chef at Yank Sing, one of the most famous dim sum restaurants in San Francisco, is now serving appreciative Austin diners this popular, handmade Chinese fare. laura
When Austin chef Foo Swasdee first started hosting Iron Chef-style competitions at Asia Fest in Austin four years ago, chef Chan Chi Keung kept winning them. “I recognized how talented he is with dim sum,” says Swasdee, the owner of Satay restaurant on Anderson Lane.
Boots in the Oven once again wanders off Austin's beaten culinary path to find this authentic Korean gem-of-a-store. Whether you're a Korean connoisseur - or have never tried the stuff - we recommend you make a beeline for this blog post. laura
Mom’s Taste is run by the delightful Lee family. The husband and wife owners are fixtures at the store. While both are super friendly and eager to help, they really only speak Korean. On occasion, one or both of their sons are around and the two of them speak better English than I do. I use our encounters as opportunities to grill them on the day’s specials.
The Hungry Engineer dishes about her delicious night at Parkside, where acclaimed chef Shawn Cirkiel executes with precision and finesse. laura
A shamefully long time ago now, we were invited to a food blogger happy hour at Parkside. It's shameful in one respect because I had every intention of reviewing it and it's now more than two months later. It's downright unforgivable in another respect – the food was inventive and generally very well executed – I really should have told you all about it sooner.
